If your company has invested time and dollars into developing a new hire onboarding program, it is probably important that the program is effective and efficient. Here are a few tips to help you improve your program immediately.
Establish Clear Processes
There are many moving parts when it comes to onboarding employees. Establish processes for your program to clearly outline how key systems function within the program. This can be done by using a RACI and writing SOPs.
Organization behind the scenes will show up as organization in the new employee experience.
Request Feedback Often
To ensure continuous improvement, you'll need to get insight from the people directly involved in the onboarding program - new hires and stakeholders. Surveys and interviews should be conducted at a regular cadence.
Correct possible power imbalances, by issuing anonymous surveys to ensure you get honest feedback.
Evaluate Your Content
If you have a library of learning content that is assigned to new hires, establish a plan for how often you will review your content for updates and changes. It's very easy to publish a piece of content and move on with life. However, if it is part of any onboarding program, you'll want to make sure you take a look at each piece of onboarding content at least once per year.
